A Veterinary Epidemiologist is a scientist who studies how diseases spread among animals and how these diseases can affect humans. By controlling animal diseases, veterinary epidemiologists significantly improve public health and the environment, making the world safer for everyone.
Salary Range
- $69,000 – $200,000/ year
Education & Timeframe
- Start Your Journey: Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Biology, Microbiology, or a related field Duration: ~4 years
- Advance Your Expertise: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) Duration: ~4 years
- Specialize in Epidemiology: Master’s Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, or a related field Duration: ~2 years
- Gain Experience: Internships or work experience in healthcare settings, public health agencies, veterinary clinics, or research institutions. Stay current with epidemiological methods, infection control practices, and public health protocols.

- The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Nevada Health Workforce Pipeline Grant (NHWPG) will focus on providing funding opportunities that are intended to disseminate financial relief and incentivize individuals to pursue careers in a variety of health-related fields. The expected outcome for these funds is to support and expand the opportunity to increase the number of qualified and competent professionals in the health workforce to improve the overall health of our communities.
