Salary Range


  • $41,000 – $70,000/ year

Required Experience


  • A Health Information Coordinator Trainee, requires a high school diploma or equivalent and one year of experience in a medical records department of an inpatient hospital, skilled nursing facility, mental health clinic, large multispecialty medical practice, facility for individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities, or freestanding clinic. This experience should include tasks such as maintaining records, releasing information in accordance with laws and regulations, maintaining confidentiality, and working with staff and patients.
  • For a Health Information Coordinator I and II, an associate’s degree in Health Information Administration, Health Information Technology, or a related field is required, along with one to two years of experience in a medical records department, performing similar tasks.
  • As a Health Information Director, a bachelor’s degree in Health Information Administration, Health Information Technology, or a related field is required, along with two years of supervisory experience in a medical records department, including developing and implementing policies and providing technical expertise.
