Gynecologists are dedicated healthcare professionals who focus on the health of the female reproductive system, including the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, and vagina. They diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions, such as menstrual disorders, infections, and cancers of the reproductive organs. Gynecologists also provide preventive care, including routine exams, Pap smears, and contraceptive counseling. Known for their compassion, attention to detail, and expertise, gynecologists make a significant positive impact on society by promoting women’s health and well-being, ensuring that their patients receive the best possible care.
Salary Range
- $281,000 – $390,000/ year
Education & Timeframe
- Start Your Journey: Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Chemistry, or a related field Duration: ~4 years
- Advance Your Expertise: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree from an accredited medical school Duration: ~4 years
- Gain Experience: Complete a residency program in Obstetrics and Gynecology, which typically lasts 4 years, to gain specialized training and experience in gynecology. Stay current with gynecological techniques, patient care practices, and relevant research. Obtain board certification from the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG).

- The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Nevada Health Workforce Pipeline Grant (NHWPG) will focus on providing funding opportunities that are intended to disseminate financial relief and incentivize individuals to pursue careers in a variety of health-related fields. The expected outcome for these funds is to support and expand the opportunity to increase the number of qualified and competent professionals in the health workforce to improve the overall health of our communities.
