Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) are vital members of the healthcare system, providing crucial care and support during emergencies. Salary Range

  • $41,000 – $62,000/ year

Education & Timeframe

  • Start Your Journey: High School Diploma or GED Duration: ~4 years
  • Advance Your Expertise: Complete an EMT Basic Training Program approved by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) Duration: ~3-6 months
  • Gain Experience: Clinical rotations and field internships with EMS agencies, hospitals, or ambulance services. Stay current with EMT techniques, patient care practices, and relevant research. Obtain certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR.

Scholarship Opportunities

  • The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Nevada Health Workforce Pipeline Grant (NHWPG) will focus on providing funding opportunities that are intended to disseminate financial relief and incentivize individuals to pursue careers in a variety of health-related fields. The expected outcome for these funds is to support and expand the opportunity to increase the number of qualified and competent professionals in the health workforce to improve the overall health of our communities.   • The National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) Foundation is offering Emergency Medical Service (EMS) scholarship opportunities to students at the College of Southern Nevada. These scholarships are designed for individuals committed to entering the EMS profession, demonstrating financial need, dedication to the community, and the ability to serve as positive ambassadors for the EMS field.   • The Pennington Paramedic/EMS Scholarship at TMCC is available to EMT and EMS students who are Nevada residents. Scholarship amounts vary based on the number of credits students are enrolled in.   • The Nevada Health Equity & Loan Assistance (HEAL) Program was launched by the Nevada Treasury in 2025 to reward healthcare providers who choose to practice in Nevada. The Nevada HEAL Program provides student loan repayment up to $120,000 to providers who commit to at least 5 years of clinical practice in an eligible Nevada community.
