Urologists are specialized doctors who diagnose and treat diseases and disorders of the urinary tract and male reproductive system. They manage conditions like kidney stones, urinary incontinence, and prostate issues. Urologists work in both surgical and clinical settings, performing procedures and advising on preventive care. Their attention to detail and strong understanding of complex systems are essential in this role. Urologists make a significant positive impact on society by improving patients’ health and quality of life through their expertise and compassionate care.
Salary Range
- $200,000 – $400,000/ year
Education & Timeframe
- Start Your Journey: Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Chemistry, or a related field Duration: ~4 years
- Advance Your Expertise: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree from an accredited medical school Duration: ~4 years
- Gain Experience: Complete a urology residency program, which typically lasts 5-6 years, to gain specialized training and experience in urology.
- Stay Current: Stay current with medical advancements, patient care practices, and relevant research in urology. Obtain board certification from the American Board of Urology (ABU) to enhance qualifications and career prospects.

- The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Nevada Health Workforce Pipeline Grant (NHWPG) will focus on providing funding opportunities that are intended to disseminate financial relief and incentivize individuals to pursue careers in a variety of health-related fields.
