Epidemiology is a branch of medicine which deals with incidence, distribution and control of diseases and other determinants of health-related issues and topics.

Biostatistics is the application of statistical techniques to scientific research in health related fields.

Biostatisticians and epidemiologists research and analyze health data to inform public health decisions.

  • Biostatistics and Epidemiology (MPH)
    • UNLV has a combined epidemiology and biostatistics, graduate MPH program.
    • 47 graduate credits required for completion of MPH.
  • Requirements
    • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution related to biological, physical, or social sciences.
    • 3.0 GPA or equivalent in work completed after first two years of bachelor’s degree and in all post-baccalaureate course work.
